Lot 4761
Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Follis (Silvered bronze, 17 mm, 2.44 g, 5 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Ticinum, irregular mint, after 322. CONSTAN-TINVS IVN C Laureate head of Constantine II to right. Rev. CESARVM NOSTRORVM / T T around wreath containing VOT / X above crescent in three lines. Cf. RIC 167 and 172 (for possible prototype). Slightly rough, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

The style of this coin is clearly unofficial, indicating that it is a contemporary 'barbarous' imitation. In addition to the spelling errors, the reverse mixes two emissions, combining a 'CAESARVM NOSTRORVM' legend with a 'crescent / T T' mint mark.
